Experience and philosophy
The training adapts to the student. The goal is not to overload you with information, but to give you the right work at the right time.
I coach students of all ages and levels, from young beginners to ambitious juniors, tournament competitors, and adult improvers. My strongest results have come with young students, while the coaching remains broad, serious, personal, and adapted to the student in front of me.
As a child, I often found chess lessons overwhelming or monotonous because they did not channel my energy and curiosity into focused, enjoyable learning. That early experience shaped my mission today: make chess fun for children without making the teaching shallow.
I have taught 500+ students across India, the United States, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Europe, and other international markets. My experience includes private coaching, group classes, academy teaching, and large online sessions.
My focus is straightforward: help students understand chess better, think more clearly, and improve with structure. I do not believe in empty promises or unrealistic expectations. A good coach should diagnose honestly, teach clearly, and give the student work they can actually follow.
Students coached by me have achieved major competitive milestones across national and international chess. Since many of my students are active current students, I prefer not to disclose their identities publicly on the website. Specific references can be shared privately on request, where appropriate.
In 2025-26 alone, my students have:
These examples are not guarantees. They are a reflection of consistent work, parent support, student effort, and coaching that adapts to the individual child.
I have taught one-on-one lessons, group classes, and large online sessions for children and adults. With younger students, I combine enthusiasm, structure, and personalized attention. With adults, I focus on clarity, efficiency, and practical study decisions.
I am also a chess author and course creator. I authored World Class: Ding Liren on Chessable and have created instructional courses for TheChessWorld.com, including Skill Booster for Club Players, The Art of Maneuvering, and Exchanging Pieces Manual. My upcoming work includes The Craft of Maneuvering with Thinkers Publishing and A Complete London Repertoire for White for Chessiverse.
My coaching is designed for students who need structure, clarity, and long-term direction. Depending on the student's level, I can help with:
Some students are ambitious tournament competitors with serious goals. Some are working adults who can only study for 30 minutes a day. Some are young beginners who need chess to feel fun, structured, and engaging from the very first lesson.
My lessons are highly interactive. I ask continuous questions, from simple to challenging, so the student is always thinking instead of passively watching.
Each lesson is built around the student's needs. That may include game analysis, opening preparation, tactical training, endgame work, strategic themes, calculation exercises, or a long-term training plan. After the first 2 to 3 lessons, once I understand the student's strengths and weaknesses, I provide more specific guidance for a longer-term plan.
After each session, I send a post-lesson summary via WhatsApp with the topics covered, the student's performance, and any important follow-up points. Parents are welcome to reach out with questions, and they are entitled to a complimentary 15-minute call each month to discuss progress.
During important tournaments, such as State, National, or International scholastic events, I also offer a complimentary 15 to 30 minute Zoom meeting to review games, discuss preparation, and help the student stay focused.
My aim is to make chess improvement serious, structured, and enjoyable. Whether you are arranging lessons for a young student, trying to break a plateau as an adult improver, or preparing for competitive events, I can help you study smarter and improve with direction.
